Through her legal representatives, Sory & Partners @ Law, Ms. Niharika Handa is seeking 5 million Ghana Cedis in damages, a public apology, and a permanent injunction to prevent the continued dissemination of false publications.

Gold Theft and Confidential Documents Case

Ms. Niharika Handa also drew attention to a serious ongoing case involving the alleged theft of 23 kilograms of refined gold 2 kilograms of the unrefined gold and confidential company documents – a case she says is being deliberately concealed by false media reports.

This theft was orchestrated and facilitated by Amardeep Singh Hari along with his nephew Sanamdeep Singh Hari(also known as Sanam Hari), and both are now facing legal action.

She clarified, “The real issue is being buried under false stories. Amardeep Singh Hari (co-founder and Executive Chairman of IPMC) and Sanamdeep Hari (Managing Director of IPMC) stole 23 kilograms of refined gold 2 kilograms of the unrefined gold and important company documents. Although they are trying to divert attention with misleading claims, I am focused on getting justice.”

Ms. Handa further stressed that she has no criminal record or false identity. The date of birth is a clerical error that I missed due to my busy schedule. Spreading false news online about me and my son is their way of diverting public attention from the real case, which is the “gold theft by Amardeep Singh Hari and Sanamdeep Singh Hari,” and protecting themselves. But the truth always prevails, she said.

“I have never possessed a fake identity card nor faced any criminal charges. The case in Delhi high court was not on me as an individual ,it was on a company in which I was not even a shareholder but just an honorary director”. And the case was dismissed and the said FIR was quashed by the Delhi High Court and I was duly acquitted by the honorable court she said.

Ongoing Legal proceedings

Notices have already been sent to the online publishers named in the defamation case and they are expected to respond within eight days. The case is now before the Accra High Court, where Ms. Handa expressed full confidence in the Ghanaian judicial system to deliver a fair outcome.

Call for responsible journalism

Ms. Handa concluded by appealing to the media and the public to uphold journalistic ethics and verify facts before publishing or sharing information.

“I urge the media and citizens to be responsible. Verify information before spreading it. My family and I stand by truth and honesty – and we are confident the court will do the same,” he said.

This case, while personal, holds wider significance – it highlights the importance of responsible journalism, accountability, and justice in maintaining Ghana’s image as a transparent and reliable hub for international trade.
