President John Dramani Mahama on Monday officially opened the Ghana–UK Investment Summit 2026 in London and called on businesses and investors from the United Kingdom to invest in Ghana.

Addressing the gathering, President Mahama stated:

“I want to clearly tell the international investors gathered here today that Ghana is open for business. We are ready for partnerships that create jobs, transfer technology, develop skills, support industrialization, boost exports, and deliver sustainable growth.”

“We are looking for investors who are willing to build long-term partnerships with us—partnerships based on mutual respect, transparency, and shared prosperity. My government stands ready to work with you.”

The two-day Ghana–UK Investment Summit 2026, organized by the Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom in collaboration with Invest Africa and the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, brought together leading business executives, institutional investors, policymakers, and development partners.

President John Mahama noted that the summit comes at a crucial moment for Ghana and, indeed, Africa. He explained that businesses and investors around the world are reassessing supply chains, searching for high-growth markets, diversifying investment destinations, and positioning themselves for the next phase of global economic transformation.

President John Dramani Mahama said that Ghana offers several valuable advantages in this changing global environment including political stability, democratic maturity, strategic geographical access, improving macroeconomic fundamentals and a government committed to creating a transparent and investment friendly business environment.

President John Dramani Mahama underscored the historic and dynamic relationship between Ghana and the United Kingdom, highlighting that their collaboration continues to blossom, not only through their shared history but also via trade, innovation, investment, education and shared democratic principles.

IN Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026 H.E Stated:

“Today, bilateral trade between our two countries exceeds £1.5 billion annually, but I believe this only scratches the surface of what is possible.”

“The future of the Ghana–UK partnership must move beyond traditional trade and focus on deeper strategic collaboration in manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, agribusiness, renewable energy, financial services, pharmaceuticals, tourism, education, and the digital economy.”

The President stressed that the summit is much more than a networking event. He described it as a platform for building long-term partnerships capable of creating jobs, driving innovation, supporting industrial growth, and delivering shared prosperity.

President John Dramani Mahama also expressed his satisfaction that several ministers and senior government officials were present at the summit.

He therefore encouraged all potential investors to engage directly with them during the summit sessions and networking activities.

The President added:

“This is the time for us to move from conversation to commitment.

This is the time to invest in Ghana.”

“Let us work together to build partnerships that not only generate returns for investors but also create opportunities for millions of people across Ghana, the United Kingdom, and Africa.”

Mrs. Shaba Zita Benson, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, said the summit was organized to deepen commercial relations and create lasting value for both countries.

Meanwhile, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Dr. Christian Rogg, revealed that the UK-backed Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) is making its largest-ever investment through a £101 million ship repair and dry-docking facility at Ghana’s Takoradi Port.

According to the High Commissioner, the project is expected to create up to 430 jobs, with 30 percent of those opportunities reserved for women, while further strengthening Ghana’s position in the maritime sector.

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama also reaffirmed the UK Government’s full support for Ghana’s socio-economic development.
